DR. JONATHAN BRAKARSH


Dr. Jonathan Brakarsh (jonathanbrakarsh@gmail.com ) is a child psychologist living in Zimbabwe. He has been active in community mental health and child protection for over 30 years. He is currently the Director of the Say and Play Therapy Centre in Harare, Zimbabwe and is a founding member of the Integrated Pain Management Group, an interdisciplinary team that provides treatment for chronic pain. Dr. Brakarsh has been involved in several initiatives to benefit children in Zimbabwe and regionally: Developing a national distance education course in child counselling and communication with CONNECT-the Zimbabwe Institute of Systemic Therapy; Co-founder of the Family Support Trust which provides medical and counselling services to sexually abused children from 0-16 years of age; and New Ways, a program to stop bullying in our schools.

Dr. Brakarsh is the author/co-author of four books which have been translated into several languages: The Journey of Life, The Journey of Life Series, Say and Play- A tool for young children and those who care for them, and, most recently, Singing to the Lions-A guide to overcoming fear and violence in our lives. He is on the advisory boards of Lubuto Library (Zambia) and Joy Inc (Nigeria). Dr Brakarsh consults internationally on issues concerning children and on techniques to control physical and psychological pain in our lives
